John Winter ~ Lampwork Artist

After apprenticing to glass blowing legend Robert Hamon for two years,
and working out of his studio for another two years, John began
experimenting with glass beadmaking, a discipline that, almost 20
years later, still fascinates him. His work has been published in all
bead related magazines, as well as Professional Stained Glass Craftsman
Magazine, and his work has won awards and recognition internationally.
His work may be seen in the permanent collections of the Bead Museum in Washington, D.C. as well as the Bead Museum in Glendale, AZ, which has a special display of his work. His beads are currently in two international exhibitions, one in France, and one scheduled to open in England shortly, entitled "Tempest".

His teaching career has him traveling nationally, as adjunct professor at the Corcoran College of Art, and as longtime teacher at the Bead and Button show as well as at the Beadfest shows sponsored by Lapidary Journal Magazine. Bead and Button Magazine has awarded him finalist status in the 'Bead Dreams' competition four of the last six years. Two examples of his work are published in the book 1000 Glass beads.

"Glass is magic. Playing with liquid light at 2000 degrees involves all the senses."

-John Winter
